Just like the first harvest needs to be tended, the first burn of a candle is essential for a memorable experience. At Bia Candle Co, we encourage proper candle burning techniques. To achieve best results, candles should be burned for 1 hour for every 1 inch in diameter. For example, a 2-inch diameter candle should be burned for a minimum of 2 hours. This allows the wax to liquefy and create a melt pool to the edge of the jar; thereby, preventing the formation of a "memory ring" that can cause tunneling and shorten the candle's lifespan.

Tunneling occurs for two reasons. One, the candle wasn't lit long enough during the first burn, leaving wax along the sides of the container. Two, the candle was improperly constructed with a weak wick. Bia Candle Co tests and retests its candles to ensure optimal wicking. All you have to do is let your candle burn for about 3 hours during the initial burn. This will optimize the burn and maximize the lifespan of our handcrafted candles.

Let Bia Candle Co illuminate your space with captivating scents and create lasting memories through the art of proper candle burning.
